Back in Europe

After a short final trip from Martinique to St. Lucia we we left the boat 2 days ago in Rodney Bay, in the water in a little Marina.
6 wonderful months have gone and we will not be back on the boat until the end of this year to continue the voyage. We hope you enjoyed following us here on this site.

Last anchorage on southern Martinique

After checking out in Le Marin we anchored for the last time at our favourite beach close to the salines on the south coast of Martinique.

Exploring Martinique by car.

A bath after a hard day of mountain hiking.

Another bath after a hard day of mountain hiking.

We climbed the highest mountain on Martinique, Mount Pele, which exploded in 1902 and destroyed the prosperous capital St. Pierre. It can quickly get very cloudy on top.

A kolibri just close by our path.

You find Heliconiae everywhere along the hiking paths.

Huge trees, here a certain fig, which grows around other trees, a house or something else, which would keep it up.

A few places water was transported by those canals to the sugar cane mills. Now the edges of those canals serve as hiking trails.

There are many bananaplantations here on Martinique, and there is water and warmth enough.

Rum on Martinique

Barrels of rum in the plantation of St. Clement, our favourite rum.

A "modern" sugar cane mill.

Sugar cane harvest machine.

After the harvest they are transported to sugarcane mills.

There are huge plantations of sugarcane everywhere on Martinique.

Back on Martinique

After two short overnight stops (on St. Vincent at the Rockside Cafe moorings and on St. Lucia in Rodney Bay) we are now on Martinique again. Unfortunately our flight tickets have not arrived at the TO representation in Anse Mitan.
